Katolik Kilisesi Paris Başpiskoposu –sürdüğü hayat nedeniyle- Édith Piaf’ın cenaze törenini yapmayı reddetti. Tabutu Père-Lachaise mezarlığına götürülürken on binlerce hayranı korteje katıldı. Mezarlıktaki törende hazır bulunanların sayısı ise 100.000’i geçti.Ünlü şarkıcı Charles Aznavour, Édith Piaf’ın cenaze törenini anlatırken “İkinci Dünya Savaşı sona ereli beri bütün Paris’in trafiğini tamamen kilitleyen başka bir olay yoktur.” dedi.
